Squirrels
“This would all be so much fucking easier if Dad was shit all the time. But he’s not. It would be really easy if I could just hate him. Like, I would really, really like to hate him. But I don’t, because he’s brilliant.”
Squirrels follows Nate as he navigates parental addiction, grief and loneliness the only way he knows: by keeping a bin full of squirrels on school property. But what happens when his life is interrupted by something he’s never had before, a friend?
Squirrels was shortlisted for the Phil Fox award in playwrighting in 2020 and received a rehearsed read with support from Mrs C’s Collective. The play has received an R&D with support from Arts Council England and Portsmouth Guildhall.
