Playwrighting

As a theatre maker I believe in the power of people telling their own stories. My work often deals with real world issues, sometimes framed with magical realism and a good pinch of theatrical spirit. I tend to write dramatic comedies with a big heart and always with tongue firmly in cheek.

I wrote my first full length play Squirrels while on the Royal Court introduction to playwrighting course, and after that there was no stopping me. Squirrels went on to be shortlisted for the Phil Fox award in playwrighting and received an in-progress showing at Portsmouth Guildhall and is expecting a 2023 tour. My full length work includes:

  • F-Wordz - For Sam Gilroy with support from Arts Council England, Southeast dance, and MAST.

  • Squirrels - Bethany Cooper productions, Mrs C’s collective, Portsmouth Guildhall, and Arts Council England.

  • Watching a Whale Fall - The National Youth Theatre, London Playwright’s Workshop, and The Lion and Unicorn Theatre.

  • Potholing - Arts council England, and London Performance Studios.

I also write long form monologues which have been performed by Yellow Coat Theatre company and the Coronavirus Theatre Club.

I accept commissions for performance writing including full length plays, monologues and individual scenes. Please get in contact for availability and rates.
